I-Gnat (ff459990-875a-502b-95ce-91b2be230ee0)
The General Atomics I-Gnat was an improved Gnat-750-derived fixed-wing UAV used primarily for military ISR rather than as a mature armed UCAV, and it helped bridge early long-endurance reconnaissance systems to the RQ-1/MQ-1 Predator family. It used a Rotax 912/914-series piston engine in a pusher configuration and carried stabilized electro-optical/infrared sensor payloads for long-range surveillance. Publicly reported significance centers on U.S. government use in the 1990s and on its role as a pathfinder for SATCOM control, endurance operations, and sensor integration concepts later associated with Predator.
