The BirdEye 650D is a compact, gasoline‑powered tactical UAV developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for long‑endurance intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. Weighing under 30 kg with a 4‑m wingspan, it can stay aloft for up to 15 hours and cover roughly 150 km, operating at altitudes of 15 000 ft and loiter speeds of 40‑80 kt. Its 5.5 kg payload capacity supports stabilized day‑night sensors and moving‑target trackers, enabling persistent over‑the‑hill, urban and convoy‑escort surveillance. The system is launch‑ready via a pneumatic catapult and recovers safely using a parachute/air‑bag “flip‑over” maneuver. Fully automated from take‑off to landing, the BirdEye 650D offers low visual and acoustic signatures, rapid deployment on a trailer, and operation by a three‑person ground crew, making it ideal for organic support of maneuvering ground forces.
