Phantom Ray (289571b3-e288-54ce-9901-cf9a6518b260)

Boeing Phantom Ray was a company-funded unmanned combat air vehicle demonstrator aimed at proving autonomous ISR, strike-support, and related survivable-mission concepts rather than entering production as a fielded system. The aircraft used a tailless flying-wing planform and a single General Electric F404-GE-102D turbofan, placing it in the jet-powered, low-observable UCAV demonstrator class alongside Boeing’s earlier X-45 work. Its main procurement angle is negative but important: it served as a technology and flight-test vehicle after the U.S. J-UCAS era, with first flight announced in 2011 and no public operational customer.
