The HESA Ababil‑5 is an Iranian‑manufactured, single‑engine UAV designed for both ISR and strike missions. Powered by a 19 kW (25 hp) WAE‑342 piston engine, it reaches up to 370 km/h and can loiter for 12 hours in combat mode or 24 hours when configured for reconnaissance. With a 40 kg payload capacity, the platform can carry up to four anti‑tank guided missiles (Almas series) or six precision‑guided bombs (Qaem series), enabling ground‑attack and close‑air‑support roles. Operated by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Air Force and Army, the Ababil‑5 serves as a low‑cost, long‑range tactical UAV for surveillance, target acquisition, and precision strike across Iran’s regional theatres.
