The ZALA 421‑20 is a medium‑size, long‑endurance UAV developed by Russia’s ZALA Aero Group. Designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), the aircraft can stay aloft for 6–8 hours, cruise at 90–220 km/h and operate at altitudes up to 5 km. It carries a payload of up to 50 kg, allowing integration of high‑resolution EO/IR cameras, laser designators, communications gear and other sensor suites. With a video link range of 50 km and a radio‑control range of 120 km, the 421‑20 is used for border and perimeter security, monitoring of oil‑and‑gas pipelines, maritime patrol, fire‑watching and other emergency‑response missions, as well as limited cargo transport to remote sites. It is launched and recovered from conventional ground runways and is fielded by Russian operators.
