Heron (Machatz-1) (e9f6ebed-29ca-5d24-89ae-fe3400025608)
The IAI Heron (Machatz‑1) is a medium‑altitude, long‑endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle designed for persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Powered by a Rotax 916 rotary‑engine, it can stay aloft for up to 52 hours, cruise at 130 km/h and carry a 250 kg sensor suite that includes electro‑optical/infrared cameras, synthetic‑aperture radar, ELINT/COMINT packages and maritime‑surveillance radars. Its autonomous launch, recovery and satellite‑link data‑relay enable operations far beyond line‑of‑sight, supporting target acquisition, artillery adjustment and border monitoring. Operated by Israel, India and numerous export customers, the Heron provides long‑range, all‑weather situational awareness without weapon carriage, serving as a cornerstone platform for national and coalition ISR requirements.
