Samad-1 (d28cfc99-0f1a-5796-8de0-6f71d743f59a)

The Samad‑1 is a small, pusher‑prop UAV of Yemeni origin that entered service in the Yemeni civil war by 2018. With a 3.5 m wingspan and a declared 500 km range, it is primarily employed for tactical reconnaissance and loiter‑in‑target surveillance, though its airframe can be adapted for low‑payload strike missions. The drone’s distinctive V‑shaped tail fins, ventral landing skids and rear‑mounted engine (German 3W‑110i B2 or Chinese DLE‑170) enable simple launch and recovery from improvised sites. Operators include the Houthi movement, Iran’s IRGC‑linked networks, and Hezbollah, which have fielded the Samad‑1 to monitor battlefields, target enemy positions and, when fitted with explosives, conduct limited loitering‑munition attacks against Saudi, Israeli and UAE assets.
