The ZALA 421‑04M is a Russian UAV in flying‑wing layout and a rear‑mounted pulling electric propeller, hand‑launched from an elastic or pneumatic catapult and recovered by parachute, giving it up to 1.5 h of endurance, a 15 km video link and the ability to carry up to 1 kg of payload (including visual, infrared or photographic sensors). Deployed by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB border service, the emergency ministry and gas‑pipeline operators, it is used for wide‑area surveillance, border and forest monitoring, fire‑fighting support, pipeline and oil‑and‑gas infrastructure inspection, and limited payload delivery.
