The IAI Heron TP (Eitan) is a medium‑altitude, long‑endurance (MALE) UAV built by Israel Aerospace Industries for high‑value ISR and force‑protection missions. Powered by a 1 200 hp PT6 turboprop, it can remain airborne for up to 30 hours, cruise at 407 km/h and carry a 2 700 kg payload that includes EO/IR sensor turrets, synthetic‑aperture radar, COMINT, ESM and, as demonstrated by Germany, precision‑guided missiles for strike or convoy‑defence roles. Operated by Israel, India and the German Air Force (leased from IAI/Airbus DS), the platform provides persistent surveillance, target acquisition and real‑time warning for ground and naval units, bridging the capability gap between legacy Heron 1 systems and forthcoming European Eurodrone platforms.
