The Loong 5 is a Chinese electric‑powered, fixed‑wing UAV with VTOL capability, developed by LoongUAV Co. It can stay aloft for up to 180 minutes and cruise at 144 km/h, offering a 4.8 m wingspan and a 20 kg payload capacity. Designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, the platform carries a dual‑axis‑stabilised VT360R gimbal equipped with electro‑optical, infrared and LIDAR sensors, and can be fitted with light armaments if required. Navigation uses GPS, Galileo, BeiDou and GLONASS, while a rugged LS1 ground‑control station provides route planning, payload management and real‑time video. Its IP‑54 rating and -20 °C to 60 °C operating range enable deployment in diverse environments, making it a versatile asset for Chinese forces and potential export customers.
