The IAIO Fotros is Iran’s largest indigenously‑produced medium‑altitude, long‑endurance unmanned combat aerial vehicle. Built by the Iran Aviation Industries Organization, the piston‑engine UCAV features a 49 m wingspan, 30‑hour endurance and a claimed operational range of up to 2 000 km, allowing it to loiter over battlefields for an entire day. It can carry up to six precision‑guided weapons—typically Qaem‑1 glide bombs or similar missiles—enabling both strike and intelligence‑surveillance‑reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Entering service around 2020, Fotros is operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Air Force, providing Tehran with a strategic, semi‑autonomous platform for deep‑strike, close‑air support and persistent regional surveillance.
