Chernika 1 (Черника-1) (86a7966b-f232-5522-8f1e-3e72fd04978c)
The Chernika‑1 is a low‑cost, electric, one‑way attack UAV produced by the Russian manufacturer INA. Weighing only a few kilograms, it can carry a 0.7 kg high‑explosive warhead and reaches a maximum speed of about 75 km/h with an operational range of roughly 80 km. Launched by hand or a simple catapult, the drone’s foam‑filled, flying‑wing design gives it a very small radar cross‑section, making it difficult for layered air‑defence systems to detect. Its primary role is to conduct inexpensive, mass‑produced strikes against lightly protected targets—such as infantry, soft‑skinned vehicles, and urban infrastructure—near the front line. First observed in combat during a July 2025 strike on Kharkiv, the Chernika‑1 illustrates Russia’s shift toward expendable “kamikaze” drones that can be fielded in large numbers for saturation attacks, supplementing larger Iranian‑made Shahed systems. At an estimated production cost of about $350 per unit, the platform is intended for high‑volume deployment by Russian forces.
