Samad-3 (757310f9-bbd5-5698-ac4f-3bddee6d8551)

The Samad‑3 is a low‑cost, long‑range loitering‑munition UAV developed in Yemen and fielded primarily by the Houthi movement. Powered by a rear‑mounted Chinese DLE‑170 or German 3W‑110i B2 pusher engine, the 2.8 m‑long platform has a 4.5 m wingspan, a maximum speed of 200‑250 km/h and an advertised range of 1 500‑1 800 km, allowing it to strike deep into Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Israel and maritime targets in the Red Sea. It can carry up to 18 kg of explosives and uses ventral skids for take‑off and landing. The drone’s modest performance and “clumsy” handling are offset by its ability to conduct surprise attacks far beyond the reach of conventional artillery.
