VT-40 (Vladlen Tatar, BT-40) (6b4d61f5-adc7-5e35-8498-fe8788d570a0)
The VT‑40 (Vladlen Tatar, BT‑40) is a Russian‑manufactured, electric FPV‑VTOL loitering munition developed by the “Русский беспилотник” team and fielded through the non‑commercial “Sudny Den” project. First flown and entered into service in 2023, the platform carries a 1.3‑3 kg warhead and can strike targets at 7‑10 km. Priced at roughly 40 k RUB (≈ US $500), it is deployed in large numbers (over 2 000 flights reported) to provide low‑cost, high‑precision fire against infantry, bunkers, transport, and armored vehicles. Russian units have used VT‑40s to destroy a variety of assets—including BTR‑70s, BMP‑2s, M113 APCs, a Swedish Strv‑122 tank and a 9K35 Strela‑10 SAM—often in two‑stage attacks that conserve artillery ammunition and reduce exposure to counter‑battery fire.
