Samad-2 (657875a4-1e1a-5377-8c91-75a14b386d53)

The Samad‑2 (UAV‑X) is a low‑cost, long‑range loitering munition developed in Yemen and fielded by the Houthi movement. With a 4.5 m wingspan, a rear‑mounted Chinese DLE‑170 or German 3W‑110i B2 pusher engine, and a maximum speed of 200‑250 km/h, it can travel 1 200‑1 500 km while carrying up to an 18 kg warhead or a reconnaissance payload. Its distinctive V‑shaped tail fins and ventral skid allow simple take‑off and landing. Since 2018 the Samad‑2 has been used to strike targets in Saudi Arabia, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the Red Sea, demonstrating the Houthis’ ability to project kinetic force far beyond Yemen’s borders.
