The Northrop Grumman RQ‑4 Global Hawk is a high‑altitude, long‑endurance (HALE) unmanned aircraft designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). Powered by a single Rolls‑Royce AE3007 turbofan, it can stay aloft for over 34 hours, cruise at 629 km/h and operate at 60 000 ft, covering up to 40 000 sq mi of terrain per day. Its 1 360 kg internal payload accommodates synthetic‑aperture radar, electro‑optical/infrared sensors and, on Block 30 variants, a wide‑band SIGINT suite. Fielded by the U.S. Air Force (and NATO allies), the Global Hawk provides persistent, high‑resolution imagery and signals intelligence for strategic targeting, maritime surveillance, disaster response and emerging‑threat monitoring worldwide.
