The Grom‑U is a Russian “loyal‑wingman” unmanned combat aerial vehicle developed by Kronstadt Group for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Designed to operate alongside Su‑35 and Su‑57 fighters, it flies ahead of the formation to draw enemy air‑defence fire, then either strike the revealed targets or coordinate a swarm of up to ten Molniya strike drones. With a maximum speed of 1 000 km/h, a service ceiling of 12 000 m and a payload capacity of 1‑2 t, it can carry Kh‑38 missiles, guided/unguided bombs (100‑500 kg) and the Izdeliye‑85 missile. Its internal weapons bay and four hardpoints give it strike, ISR and electronic‑intelligence capabilities while reducing radar signature. The platform is intended to enhance survivability and lethality of manned strike packages in contested airspace.
