CQ-24A K-MAX (4461fcb4-2660-5731-ad46-8d72aae8eb49)

The CQ‑24A K‑MAX is a rugged, optionally‑piloted heavy‑lift helicopter built by Kaman Aerospace (Kaman Corp.). Operated by the U.S. Marine Corps, the two aircraft served in Afghanistan from 2011‑2013, flying exclusively unmanned night‑time resupply missions. During 33 months of combat operations they moved more than 4.5 million lb of cargo between forward operating bases and remote outposts, replacing roughly 900 ground convoys and removing 46 000 hours of personnel exposure to IEDs, small‑arms fire and other road threats. The platform lifts up to 6,000 lb and is being re‑activated with next‑generation autonomous technology for future logistical, firefighting and humanitarian missions.
