The ZALA Lancet (Item 52/Item 51) is a Russian‑manufactured electric loitering munition developed by ZALA Aero Group, a Kalashnikov Concern subsidiary. With a 30‑minute endurance, a 1 kg payload and a 110 km/h cruise speed (300 km/h in dive), the 1‑m‑winged system can be launched from portable catapults or ship‑borne tube launchers. Designed for both reconnaissance and precision strike, it carries HE, fragmentation or shaped‑charge warheads and uses optical‑electronic/TV guidance for terminal control. Since 2020 it has seen combat in Syria and the Russo‑Ukrainian war, targeting artillery, SAM sites, tanks, naval craft and even aircraft. At roughly US $37 000 per unit, the Lancet provides Russia with a low‑cost, high‑value “kamikaze” capability for suppressing enemy firepower and disrupting battlefield assets.
